Quilting Tonight...

So tired... lame... I was thinking of going straight to bed when I get home... and its only 7:31 am right now...  But I think I'm going to work on a bit of that Christmas quilt when I get home... all the hard parts are done... now the fun begins... sewing down the applique pieces and then putting the thing together and free motion sewing all over it!.. I have to practice the free motion work before attacking this quilt but I think it should be a breeze... 

I'm wearing these fantastic shoes today... LOVE THEM!.. and don't wear them enough...

Because I haven't worked on anything in the past few days here's a few recent snaps from my iPhone... a shot of my current fave sneakers... 

And here's an iPhone shot of flowers that I had in the front room before the Purple Globe Thistle... these didn't last long but were so pretty...

Like I said I want to work on my Christmas Quilt tonight... so some snaps of that one tomorrow... and I have that apron to make for myself... this weekend for sure!.. stay tuned!..  Ooo and I want to make this Wreath from a BHG book that I picked up last week... its a wreath of just carnations... all red... I'm not usually a fan of carnations but this wreath just looks so lush and Christmassy!..

Busy Couple Of Days...

Whipped this up yesterday evening for the Momma...  I've seen a few different ones online and knew it would be easy to get together...  The frame is from Ikea... it was only $12.99...

I didn't get a good shot of the Christmas quilt yet... the blocks are all sewed together and the applique pieces all ironed down... I have to sew around the applique pieces put in the batting and backing, tack it together and then do the free motion sewing all over the top... I've never really tried the free motion sewing so fingers crossed I get it to work okay!..  In the mean time here is fabric that I picked up to make myself a Christmas apron!.. and the pink will be the binding!..

The Momma and I headed to the Millarville Market this morning... and I got these pretty Globe Thistle flowers for the front room... Ooo... I almost forgot... I got a HUGE potted mum for the second planter out front... I'll plant that one tomorrow and get a snap of it...

Annnnd tada!.. I put this together this morning... broke out the ol' glue gun... burned myself a few times... I wanted a nice Fall wreath and haven't really seen anything around that I like and so the Momma and I picked out the bits and pieces for this...

I have a nice door hanging for the Winter and I have plans to make one for the Christmas Season... I got a Christmas craft book from Fabricland there yesterday and its is just FULL of awesome ideas...

Apple Pie And Fabric For A Quilt...

So many peppers got cut up for the salsa... luckily its not too hot... Mmm...  Got 7 large bottles and 6 small bottles...

The last of the bottling is in the process of being finished right now...  The apple pie filling is the last of what I wanted to bottle...

Right now the apple pie filling is in the water bath... well half of the bottles that we got!.. 12 large bottles and 6 small!..  We peeled 35 cups of apples!.. and all the apples only cost $10!.. I think it'll take two large bottles to make a pie, so I'll get 6 pies and then the little bottles will be good to make tarts!.. Mmm... can't wait!..

This afternoon the Momma and I headed to My Sewing Room and then to Fabricland... Mom picked up a book called 'Tis The Season Quilts And Other Comforts by Jeanne Large and Shelley Wicks... we also picked up all of the fabric for the first quilt in the book (the quilt on the cover)... we're going to start cutting the fabrics now once the second batch of pie filling are done... pictures of that fabric tomorrow once we get some cutting done...

And I found this super awesome fabric!..  It was 50% off!..  I think I know what I'm going to make with it... but its' a surprise for now...  it's time to start working on Christmas presents for friends and family...

Cake, Strawberries, and Blueberry Pie...

Baked the red velvet cake this morning... going to frost it now shortly...  Late this afternoon I bottled the strawberries... I didn't get as many as I thought I would... 4 and a half 500ml bottles 3 250ml bottles and one 125ml bottle...

All the bottles are sitting on the counter now... so far two have popped...  Then Mom made a blueberry pie with the fresh blue berries that she brought from home... 

I'm going to go have a second piece of pie... and I have to tidy the kitchen so that I can make the cake frosting and frost that cake... then tidy the kitchen again...

Tomorrow we're going to get to the salsa and apple pie filling... then onto designing the last quilt blocks for the BOM quilt Mom and I started last year...

Ch-Ch Ch-Ch Ch-Ch Cherry Bomb!..

Today we headed to Crossroads Market in search of supplies for bottling cherries, strawberries, apples for pies, and salsa... I was really hoping to be able to get 5lbs of the regular red cherries and 5lbs of the yellowy Rainier cherries... I was lucky to get this 10lbs of red cherries...  every vendor was cleaned out of cherries except one... and there were very few strawberries available...

10lbs for $15... not too bad...  Then the 10lbs of cherries needed to be pitted... I wanted to keep them whole so instead of cutting them in half to pit the cherries I picked up the OXO Cherry Pitter from Williams Sonoma... it made the job much easier and much less messy...

Once pitted they sat in some lemon water to keep them from turning brown... then they were put into sterilized bottles with some light syrup and boiled for 25 minutes... then just minutes after when they were out on the counter cooling - pop! pop! pop!.. all the lids popped...  I did loose two of the five small jars in the water bath though... the bottoms broke off completely!..  The final count of bottled cherries is 8 500ml bottles and 3 250ml bottles...

They look so pretty... With some ribbons tied around the top they would make sweet little gifts...  I can't wait to crack open a jar in a few weeks... I think they will make delicious tarts...

Here's a shot looking down at my apron pocket... The cherry pitter has a spray guard on it but once in awhile a little juice made its way out... so I broke out the apron from my friend Ashleigh (check out her bakery website - her bakery is opening soon)...

Tomorrow we're bottling the strawberries, apple pie filling and salsa, making blue berry pie with the fresh berries that Mom brought from home, and we're going to make the 6 layer red velvet cake that I just didn't get the time to make the other night...

Show & Tell Friday...

I'm back for Show & Tell Friday... brought to you by My Romantic Home... check it out and join in...  Today I have my familiar blue front room flower jar with some pretty tulips and a shot of ribbons and crystals... also in the front room... just some little snippits of some little gems...

Having flowers nearby really does make you feel better... I really want to keep this jar with fresh flowers all of the time... especially in the winter... I have to get some for my desk at work too... 

I love ribbons and bows... the front room needs more... these are tied around the top of the tall bell jar that still needs something to inhabit it... 

Keep an eye out this coming week... my Mom arrives tomorrow!.. and I have the week off of work next week... we are planning on working on a pile of fun stuff... bottling salsa and cherries and whatever else we think will be good for Furs and I to have over the fall and winter... we may do some garden work - move out the front garden... though I'm not sure about that because the lilac bushes took quite a beating from the hail and I'm thinking moving them now might just damage them more... We have to work on our BOM quilt... there are a few blocks left to be designed and then put together... and whatever else we can think of... I'd like to make a fall wreath for the front door and get some more mums for the second planter out front...

Oh and I made that Oriental Shrimp Noodle Soup last night... I was missing a couple things and had to improvise but it turned out good...

And nothing got cleaned or even tidied in the house last night... we ran the dishwasher through... that was it!.. so tonight the cleaning marathon begins!.. Oh!.. and I have to bake a 6 layer velvet cake for the Momma!.. she's requested a cake be sitting there waiting for her when she arrives!.. I picked up all of the ingredients yesterday evening... well I forgot the buttermilk... so a quick stop at the store on the way home and I'll be set...

The Past Couple Days...

Been MIA for a few days... still recovering from the cat heartbreak of this past weekend... trying to get the house back in order and this cold that I have is still hanging on... I've not really done much at all this week so far... tonight the major house cleaning begins AFTER I make the Shimp Soup that I found a recipe for... the recipe looks good... pictures of it tomorrow... for now here are some iphone shots from the past few days...

Saw this horse on the Deerfoot on Sunday after dropping Chris off at the airport... he likes the wind blowing in his hair...

I spent yesterday in bed... and these two kept me company... the two of them being on the bed together lasted a whole 45 seconds...  Cleo stayed with me for snuggles though... Seems if these two are fighting off a bug themselves the past couple of days... we're keeping a close eye on them for another day and if they're not getting any better its trip to the vet time for them...

And Chris got home yesterday from his work trip to California... he had a stop over in San Fran and got me this sweet shirt!.. Love it!.. He always gets me the best presents... Can't wait to wear it to work tomorrow...
