Partied Out...

I'm sitting here on the couch... aching... feets... knees... Candy cane hot chocolate and Baileys... thinking how lucky I am that my Christopickle cleaned the house yesterday while I was getting ready for his Christmas party... anyone who knows me knows that I'm up early on the weekends... even after party nights... because I like to be getting things done in the house on my days off... but today I slept in... we were out until about 4 afterall... but now I don't feel panicked to get the house cleaned for the week ahead!..  I'm so glad that the house is CLEAN and it's not waiting to be done by me this morning!.. Just the weekly laundry today... NBD...

So it all started Friday night with my Christmas Party... and for some reason we have no sensible pictures of us from Friday's party or last night's party... we were late getting out of the house both nights... and even last night when we ended up at the Backfoot diner with some of Chris's coworks... at 2:30 am... we didn't stop for a pic... we were too busy having a good time!..

Actually... WAIT!.. here is a shot from last night... there were mirrors above our table at supper... Chris and I are at the bottom of the table looking up at the ceiling!... hehehe...

Before this weekend really kicked off I started it with some Black Friday shopping... this past Friday was on EDO... I hit up Best Buy after dropping Furs off to work... grabbed up a couple of goodies there and then onto the Chinook Shopping Centre... to see what deals were about there... and to get a dress for Chris's party... AND to check out these beauty polar bears' unveiling... I also got to see a lot of my old coworks who were out for the unveiling... my little family!.. I miss seeing them every day so much...

Anthropologie had quite a little sale happening and I found this little gem... and I paired it with these beauties...

*drools*... I love shoes... Steve Madden made these little sweeties... and that was my outfit for last nights Christmas party... I'm sure I'll be wearing this combo again sometime in December... I'll be sure to snap a shot of Chris and I next time!..

These polar beauties were a project that I was managing before leaving Heavy this past summer... such a neat project... AND the pieces are located right here in Calgary!..

These bears will be up for the Holiday Season at the Chinook Centre... so get out and check them out!.. The Chinook is even running a contest where you can win a trip for four to see polar bears in Churchill, Manitoba!.. how amazing is that!?.

As busy as we've both been this weekend with getting ready for... and going to parties... we've both managed to get some other things done... as I mentioned Chris gave the house a good once over yesterday... (and also did some Christmas shopping... for me!) ...and I got the garland up that we picked up at Spruce Meadows Christmas Market last weekend... It sat in a bag for a week on the front steps until I got a chance yesterday to get it up!.. This year I tried something different and hung it not so traditionally with the boughs just drooping down... I flipped the boughs up... happy accident I admit... and so it turned out to be much bushier and full... so much so that I had to give it a bit of a hair cut in some places... above there it's a work in progress... I still have to add some red balls...  I busted out the compressor and staple gunned it in this year... do yourself a favour if you're hanging garland... use an air nailer... so much quicker... AND secure!..

I didn't move quick enough last weekend... but the little ones working the booth at Spruce Meadows Christmas Market where we always buy our boughs needed a hand to cut the garland... so Chris popped in behind the counter and gave them a hand... I snapped this as he was escaping the booth... Then he carried 22ft of garland out through and back to the truck before we made our final rounds of the Market...

He also drove back AFTER we'd left... as I'd had second thoughts about not having picked up this framed chalk board... I know... I could have made one easily but I can never seem to find frames like this... Large... Gold... AWESOME!..

Today is the LAST day of the Spruce Meadows Christmas Market so get out and check it out... Santa's reindeer even made an appearance!.. This lil' ol' boy gave me the stink eye the whole time...

Last week we reworked the front room... every year my parents give us some cash at Christmas and we put it into something in the house... last year our couch... my favourite couch in the world... seriously... Luge from Sears (and it's Canadian made!)... check it out... This year we put it into the front room which has been very useless since we moved into the house... now it's well on its way to being very functional and a room we actually use!..

The sideboard type thing... a ton of frames for a collage of family photos above (gonna try to hang these today... and pick out the photos to send for printing)... the lamp and two little lanterns and greenery... baskets...

Two STRANDMON chairs from... sheepskin... AND throw... we even got two wall mount lights for over our bedside tables... seriously Chris has quite the design eye... and now we don't have nightstands cluttered up with lamps...

We're putting the Christmas tree out in the front room this year... which reminds me I have to set up our yearly party event and send out invites!.. the annual Christmas doo at ours... I love the Christmas Season... friends... family... good times... good eats...

I've got some Christmas tunes on Sirius playing as I lounge here typing... Ollie was at my feet... but I'd started singing... he turned... meowed... and then came up for some kisses and snuggles... now he's under my arm and leaning over me biting on my sweater zip... such a silly boy... so affectionate and so sweet...

Here's a shot of Ollie... passed out... cold junk... last week on Chris... oh he loves a good snuggle... they both do!..

Here's Oliver on the couch for a nap with me last weekend... such a snuggle muffin...

Our little girl TinTin is not as snuggly as Olls but every night she's in bed with us for some snuggly sleep... I woke up this morning and Ollie had jammed himself between Chris and I and Tinny was on my other side!..

We're so lucky to have found these two sweet little rescues... especially after the spring we had with the loss of both Milo and Cleo... these two new furbabes are setting in well and are starting to get routines... every morning Ollie comes into the bathroom while I get ready for the day... and chills out at my feet...

I didn't get any photos at the Millarville Christmas Market this year... but on the way back up to Calgary we stopped at a little restaurant and I snapped this shot of an antique scale that they had decorating one of the tables...

Oh... hahaha... Check out this shot of me and Rod... Chris snapped it at Chapters... ever since I saw him in Vegas last March I'm obsessed... well not really... but a little... hehehhe...

How's your MOvember going?.. we've held a few MOvember events at work as MOsista's... can anyone say BAKESALE!..  so much fun!.. I made these Mint Chocolate Chip cookies... Check out the recipe here and try these out... they're so easy... and tasty...

I made whoopie pies too...

They turned out rather delicious if I do say so myself... and they sold quickly!..

I think later today Pickle and I will be making a batch or two of his Mom's shortbreads... so easy... quick... and ridiculously delish!..

Speaking of delish... have you heard of Bunco?.. if not check out out... round up some ladies and play that shit!.. also... the delish part... I get together with a new coworker and about 10 other ladies once a month to play Bunco... and to drink and eat ourselves silly... it's a hoot...

Here was my snacky that I brought last time... MEEEEAAT!.. NOM!

Yeesh... This is getting lengthy... you still hanging around?.. I have a few more shots from my last post to now...

C train shot... close up of a Kors purse zipper... this girl was standing clooooose to me...

Two weeks ago I had my regrowth done... and then all of my hair coloured purple... it fades out to a nice platinum blond... but was totally fun while it lasted... right now the roots are just a little pink and the ends quite blond... a little ombre going on...

We're still discovering wines... if you have any suggestions let me know!.. My method of choosing wine now is based purely on the labels... there are so many neat ones...

What are your plans for the rest of the weekend?.. the little bit that is left!.. I have to get moving here now... get the dishwasher going... and start some laundry... and we've got some Christmas packages to get out in the mail later on!.. Pickle is still asleep... and Ollie still snuggled up while I type... OH!.. my hot chocolate bailey's has just run out!..

Have a good Sunday... I'm going to try to get back on here mid week... I should have some front room progress shots and perhaps I'll get some Christmas things made that I've had on my mind to make now for awhile... wish me luck!..

Wedding Bands, Hiding Cords and Late Parties...

Feathering My Nest has moved!... come check all of this out over at www.featheringmynest.ca/blog

I wrote this last weekend... and didn't like it... but here it is anyway!

Do you feel rested after gaining that extra hour of sleep (last weekend)!?. Even though we went out to a belated Halloween Party last night I still woke up nice and early today... then I took my time and strolled around the grocery store... There is Christmas stuff everywhere!.. yay!..  it was packed there this morning though even though it was early... I guess everyone was actually running an hour early today...

I got a shot of both of our wedding bands together!.. Just an iPhone shot... but I love it!..  we're both really happy with the rings we've picked out... Now to figure the rest of it out...

We're still thinking of our modified eloping next Fall... somewhere along the way on our drive down the California coastline... I'm thinking the best thing to do will be to Google Map the drive... check out the cities/towns along the way... search out some photographers at those locations and then check out their photos of weddings around the area... we have our rings... I want a wedding dress... and I want awesome pictures of our day...

I'm not decided on what Christopickle should wear yet... I think the location will help us figure that out...

Once I scope out the photogs photos I'm hoping that will help me to pick a photographer... AND location... Then once we figure out when we're roadtripping we'll work out the kms and the days and see what day we'll be landing in the location where we'll get married... I'm thinking we'll nail that down in the spring... Then here comes the modified eloping bit... We've had many friends and family members tell us to let us know when and where we're getting married because they want to be there... so we'll let everyone know the date and time... nothing major being planned... depending on how many people are planning on going we'll pick out a local restaurant for dinner on the evening of the day we get married...

What do you think?.. any advice?.. ideas?.. thoughts?.. location suggestions?..

Total change of direction here now... we'd repainted the sewing/cat/office room from dark brown to a cream and we're still putting the room back together and getting it organized and things back up on the walls... BUT... with the new layout we ran into a problem... ugly looking electronics with nowhere to really go... well we ended up putting a storage unit from ikea across the wall... it will serve as a place to sit... a place to hide these electronics AND a little extra storage...

Check it out...

I put the cords in through the back end of the storage box that fits into the Expedit series from Ikea... and the router and storage thing into the box...

Lid on and BAM!..

Ugly electronics and cords all hidden away...

The green house has taken up residence in our office... it gets a good amount of natural light... Now I just have to remember to water the plants... more photos to come as we finish up that room...

Check out this tasty treat... it's call a Stroopwaffle... one of my coworks gave it to me to try out... its a Dutch cookie that has syrup build into it... you put it over the top of your tea or coffee... well that's when the magic happens... the cookie gets soft... and the syrup oozy...

NOM!.. oozy syrup...

Wow... I really have no good way today to transition from thought to thought here today!.. HA!.. so I'll just jump right into Movember!.. are you in the MO?!. We've started a Movember team at work... so I whipped up some paper Mo's for a few of the Sista's...

...some sturdy paper... skinny dowels... hot glue... modge podge and Martha Stewart Sparkles...

Jeans at work... still wearing 'em... yay...

OH!.. I picked up a book on Friday called the Happiness Advantage... I'm not too far through it yet but I've heard good things about it... I'll keep you posted...

All of this leads us up to yesterday... Pickly and I went to a friends for a belated Halloween party... we had no idea what to dress up as  until we went to one of those giant popup Halloween stores...

Aye Aye Admiral!.. I was a Pirate Admiral... and my Christopher was Harry Potter!.. we had a hoot...

...I thought I had written more past this... but it seems to have disappeared...
hmm...

Well I'm off to do some baking... YEP!.. baking for real for the first time in about two years... and I'm going at it hard... mint chocolate chip cookies... short breads and whoopie pies... I'm armed with candy cane hot chocolate and bailey's... WISH ME LUCK!..

More to come later!..
